Zhu Jiner is a WGM since 2020 and is currently the world’s highest ranked woman under 20 years. She won the World Youth Chess Championships' Girls U14 section in Khanty Mansiysk in 2016.
In 2017, she was third in the Asian Zone 3.5 after Zhai Mo and Ni Shiqun, and qualified for the Women's World Chess Championship 2018, which was also held in the place where Zhu achieved her first big success, Khanty Mansiysk. She was the youngest player in the field, ranked 46 in a field of 64 players, but nevertheless, she managed to defeat a much experienced player, Lela Javakhishvili, and advance to the second round. There, she was knocked out by Natalia Pogonina in a well-fought match.
Jiner earned her spot in the Women’s Grand Prix thanks to her brilliant result at the FIDE Women's Super Grand Swiss in Riga, where she came out third (tied for second with Elisabeth Paehtz, but with a worse tie-break).
