A native of Belarus, IM Olga Badelka is currently the highest-rated Austrian female player. Throughout her junior career, she consistently competed in the European Youth Chess Championships and World Youth Chess Championships across various age groups, winning five medals, including gold at the 2017 European Youth Championship. In 2021, Olga reached the third round of the Women’s World Cup, where she was eliminated by Women’s Vice-Champion Alexandra Goryachkina. Later that year, she placed seventh at the FIDE Chess.com Women’s Grand Swiss, breaking into the world’s top 30 female players. After experiencing a temporary slump in 2022–2023, Badelka has made a remarkable comeback, increasing her rating by 55 points over the past seven months. It will be exciting to see how the in-form Olga performs in the elite WGP round-robin tournaments.
