Dzagnidze Nana

Nana Dzagnidze is an European Women's Champion (2017), Women's Blitz Champion (2017) and the winner of the World Chess Olympiads as a member of the Georgian women's national team (2008). She was the winner of the Lausanne leg in the previous edition of the Women’s Grand Prix 2019-21, finishing 5th in the overall standings for the series. She qualified for the WGP 2022-23 as one of the highest-rated players in the March 2022 rating list. 

Nana was born on January 1, 1987, in Kutaisi, historical and economical center of Western Georgia. Since she was a child, Nana has demonstrated outstanding chess talents and soon made great progress in the Georgian and international arena. She is a many-time winner of the world youth championships and the Grandmaster since 2008.

Since 2004, she has been playing for the Georgian national women's team. Dzagnidze is the winner of the 2008 World Chess Olympiad as a member of the Georgian national women's team. At the 2014 Olympiad, she won gold medal on the first board, leaving Hou Yifan behind. Nana is a many-time medalist of the European and world team championships as a member of the Georgian national women's team. While being part of Nona team, she won the European Cup many times.

The success achieved by Dzagnidze in the individual series is equally considerable: she is the 2017 European women's champion, the 2017 World blitz women's champion. In the finals of the World Internet Blitz Championship (2015), she shared victory with Harika Dronavalli, but remained second after tie-breaks. Nana made it all the way to quarterfinals in the knockout world championships many times.

Nana Dzagnidze's peak rating reached 2573. The chess player demonstrated intentions to winning the FIDE Women's Grand Prix tournaments many times, but she has never taken first place and made it all the way to the title match. The Georgian team leader has repeatedly defeated distinguished male players, the strongest of them being Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. She took part in the 2017 World Cup, losing 0.5-1.5 to Anish Giri.

Nana Dzagnidze holds the honorable FIDE's Caissa award as the best women's chess player in 2017. The valuable prize, developed and made by the masters of Lobortas Classic Jewelry House, was officially given to Nana on December 31, 2018, during the King Salman World Rapid and Blitz Championship in Saint Petersburg.
